Forest Highlands is a private, gated, member-owned golf course community in Flagstaff, Northern Arizona. Set at roughly 7,000 feet in the ponderosa pine forest, it is a resale-only residential community built around two championship courses — Canyon and Meadow — plus club, recreation, dining, and private trail amenities.

Where is Forest Highlands in Flagstaff?

Forest Highlands sits south of central Flagstaff near Interstate 17, about two hours north of Phoenix. Its 86005 location puts owners in Northern Arizona at approximately 7,000 feet, where average summer temperatures are far cooler than the Phoenix and Scottsdale valleys.

The guarded entrance and private roads distinguish the residential community from the unrelated east-Flagstaff neighborhood that can also appear online as “Forest Highlands Unit N.” Homes shown on this site are scoped to addresses inside the gated golf community.

Canyon and Meadow: two Forest Highlands golf courses

The Canyon Course is an 18-hole, par-71 Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish design. Golf Digest ranked Canyon #2 in Arizona for 2025–26. The Meadow Course is an 18-hole, par-72 Tom Weiskopf design ranked #11 in the same state list.

Two courses make Forest Highlands distinct among Flagstaff’s gated golf communities. Buyers should still evaluate an individual home by its specific setting: Canyon frontage, Meadow frontage, wooded interior lot, sun exposure, privacy, cart traffic, and distance to club facilities.
